Assistive technology supplier Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has unveiled the first in its new range of moving and handling products, the Rise Sit to Stand Aid.

Rise is an active sit-to-stand aid. It is designed to provide safe ease of use when carrying out moving and handling tasks, such as standing, transferring, and toileting a user.

The assistive device is aimed at users with some weight-bearing ability but who need assistance with standing and transferring.

Jane Kent, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare Patient Room International Category Manager, commented: “We wanted to ensure we developed a product that benefitted the user and the carer equally and with the Rise we believe we have achieved this and is a fantastic addition to the range.

“It can be used in acute, community and long-term care environments and with a high safe working load of 204kg it accommodates many users.”

The sit-to-stand aid facilitates single-handed care while ensuring the carer can maintain close body contact with the user in order to provide a sense of security and stability.

It is designed to encourage active user participation to maintain independence. With the footplate removed, it may also assist with rehabilitation, enabling the user to be supported when walking, according to the manufacturer.

The base of the Rise features easy-roll castors that allow for easy manoeuvrability over a variety of floor surfaces as well as electrically adjustable legs to open and close to fit around or under commodes, shower chairs, recliners, wheelchairs, and beds.

With a soft, padded, and height-adjustable leg support, padded hand grips, and a range of compatible slings, the Rise offers a comfortable and safe solution to build users’ confidence.

“The Rise Sit to Stand is the first in a series of new moving and handling products, we’re looking forward to introducing the rest of the range across 2023,” Jane hinted.

Earlier this month, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare also released a new accessible bathlift that boasts a removable backrest so clients can get deeper water immersion as well as dual column for extra stability when rising and lowering clients with the bathlift.
