Mobility equipment supplier AAT has launched a new falls device that aims to provide a safer solution for everyone involved in the post-fall pathway by removing physical lifting risks for carers and offering a non-invasive lifting option for those who have had a fall.
Indeelift is a mobile platform that picks people who have had a fall up from the floor. The rechargeable battery-powered lift aims to eliminate all the problems trying to get a conventional hoist with sling into place, the company says.
Indeelift slides into position for it to lift, gently and smoothly, the fallen person from floor to standing. The lift’s design coupled with integrated rise assist handles and safety belts optimise stability during the process.
A range of versions enable morbidly obese people (up to 39 stone) to be lifted to their feet safely and with dignity.
Peter Wingrave, AAT Director, said: “Each care home experiences an average of at least three falls a month. The Care Inspectorate advises as good practice the use of lifting equipment to optimise the safety of residents when they have fallen, in appropriate circumstances, as part of the post fall pathway procedure.
“Indeelift brings a new, dignified approach to that safe transfer. It is probably the least invasive recovery solution, and offers the least possible risk, for the fallen person- and care staff.”
Indeelift is the latest addition to AAT’s range of handling and transfer equipment.
AAT recently gained Class I medical device certification for its range of S-Max stairclimbers. To AAT’s knowledge, the stairclimber is the only inter-floor transfer and access equipment that carries such accreditation.
